Sterling Shepard went down on the final play of New York’s Monday night loss to the Cowboys. It was a non-contact injury. He was carted off and later diagnosed with an ACL tear. Sheppard leads all Giants pass-catchers with 24 targets through three games.
Shepard’s absence from the Giants offense will open up plenty of targets for remaining receivers, aka the Richie James & Kadarius Toney’s of of the world. James has functioned as the team’s WR2 in the early going. He caught four passes (five targets) for 35 yards in the Giants Week three loss.
Toney, if he can come back from a hamstring issue parlayed with earning the trust of Giants coaches, projects as the team’s top wideout with Shepard sidelined.
