The Chiefs have acquired Kadarius Toney from the Giants in exchange for a conditional third-round pick and sixth-round pick.

Jordan Schultz was the first to break the news, as the former 2021 first-round draft pick is now headed to Kansas City. Toney, who has “reportedly” been battling a hamstring injury all season, has appeared in just two games for the Giants and hasn’t been active since Week 2.

The 23-year-old immediately took to twitter saying, “That Joke Would’ve Been Funny If I Was Actually Hurt Still Lol…..Irrelevant people don’t get updates.” “Lol please don’t go out sad…..thinking i Kare,” the former Florida Gator also tweeted.

The new Giants regime has shown draft capital and contracts don’t translate to playing time, so it’s fair to wonder if the injury was ever serious. Toney has failed to catch a pass this season.

As a rookie in 2021, Toney flashed signs up excellence, albeit in a small sample size. He showed elite after the catch ability, ranking eighth in yards after catch. He saw 60% of his snaps from the slot and could emerge as the Chiefs’ primary slot receiver once he has a chance to get fully acclimated with the offense.

The Chiefs are on a bye week eight before hosting the Titans on Sunday Night Football.
