ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Ja’Marr Chase (hip) could be sidelined for 4-6 weeks and is “a prime candidate for injured reserve.”
Wow.
Bengals coach Zac Taylor claimed just earlier today that Ja’Marr Chase is “day-to-day” with a soar hip. Apparently the hip was more than a little sore. This is a devastating blow for Bengals and Chase owners. After a somewhat slow start to the season, the 22-year old phenom turned in back-to-back WR1 finishes. He was fantasy’s WR4 though seven weeks.
This injury could pull the Bengals back into more of a run-first offense after a few weeks of being comfortably above the norm in pass rate over expectation. Tyler Boyd and Tee Higgins become must starts in Chase absence.
Schefter said that Chase visited with a hip specialist Wednesday and is “seeking more answers” about the injury. The Athletic’s Paul Dehner says that Chase is dealing with a hip flexor strain that won’t require surgery.
