Jeff Passan reports that the Mets and Edwin Díaz have agreed to a five-year, $102 million contract extension.

Hallelujah. Díaz is officially staying in New York for at least the next half-decade. Notably, this includes a sixth-year option for the 2028 season, and also includes an opt-out and full no-trade clause.

Diaz is fresh removed off a historical seasons. The 28-year-old totaled 32 saves to go along with a microscopic 1.31 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 118/18 K/BB ratio across 62 innings last season for the Mets.

It’s the largest contract for a relief pitcher in baseball history – but one that’s well deserved.

Welcome home, Edwin.
