NFL: Buffalo Bills at New York Jets
Right on the heels of the Bills worst loss of the season, news surfaced about star quarterback Josh Allen dealing with an elbow injury.
On the final drive of the game, the Bills were looking to erase the Jets’ 3-point deficit when Josh Allen was stripped sacked, and his elbow was bent backwards. After the play he could be seen shaking his arm and opening and closing his hand. Obviously in pain, Allen stayed in. He did, however, on the next play launch a 69-yard pass to Gabe Davis who dropped it, and the game ended. After the game, Allen told reporters, “There was some pain, but I’ll be alright.”
Monday afternoon, rumors began circulating on Twitter that Allen could possibly not be all right. BillsMafia was sent into a panicked frenzy, fearing for their beloved quarterback. With tension high, NFL insider, Ian Rapoport, took to twitter. Rapoport shared that, “Josh Allen is likely to be limited this week because of an elbow injury suffered late in Sunday’s loss but as of now it’s considered a situation to monitor rather an ailment that would keep him out of the game, sources say. He’s still undergoing tests to be sure.” This sounded like a sigh of relief for all Bills’ fans, as it seemed Allen may have dodged a bullet.
Head Coach Sean McDermott met with the media at 4 p.m. on zoom, and gave a slight update on Allen. “We’re just going through it. We’re still evaluating,” McDermott said. “We’ll see where it goes. I’ll know more in 24 hours and know more on Wednesday.” Chris Mortensen took to Twitter revealing his sources informed him, “Josh Allen is being evaluated for an elbow injury to his ulnar collateral ligament and related nerves.” That means UCL, which could be a grave issue.
Odds are that Allen suits up on Sunday but fantasy owners may want to find a contingency plan. It would be an instrumental loss to the entire Bills offense.
