The Mets exercised Carlos Carrasco’s $14 million option for 2023 which mean the 37-year-old will return to Queens for the 2023 season.
There was a $3 million buyout attached, making this an $11 million decision for the Mets. At that price, it’s and easy decison. Carrasco posted a 3.97 ERA last season but his prodcution declined post All-Star break.
The Mets now seek to fill the rest of the rotation with Jacon DeGrom, Chris Bassitt and Tijuan Walker all potentially hitting the open market.
Expect Steven Cohen and the Mets to be busy over the next few weeks.
