It’s official. Aaron Judge has capped off his historical season with the 2022 American League Most Valuable Player Award.
Judge received 28/30 votes, while Shohei Ohtani came in second receiving the other two. Yordan Alvarez finished in third.
It was going to take a historical effort to beat Ohtani’s two-way dominance, and Judge answered the call. All the 30-year-old did in a contract season, was set the AL home run record while leading all of baseball in runs scored, OPS and RBI.
It’s Judge’s first MVP and the first Yankee to win the award since Alex Rodriguez in 2007.
