NBA: Memphis Grizzlies at Brooklyn Nets
Over the last three weeks, Kyrie Irving has been the center of many conversations, but not because of his basketball play.
The 30-year-old made his much anticipated returned to the Nets lineup Sunday after serving an 8-game suspension for promoting a anti-semitic film on his Instagram.
Irving played 26 minutes, finishing with 14 points (5-for-12 FGs), five rebounds, one steal, one block and two triples in a 127-115 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. Kyrie wasn’t spectacular, and he didn’t play his usual minutes, but head coach Jacque Vaughn likely wanted him to just get his feet back under him in this game.
With the win over the Ja Morant-less Grizzlies, the Nets improved to 8-9 on the season.
Irving, as expected, was asked about his Instagram post after the game and said, “I would like to be on a platform where I could openly share how I feel without being harshly criticized or being labeled or dealing with outside perceptions that have nothing to do with me.”
The Nets now set their sights on the Philadelphia 76ers Tuesday night.
