NFL: New York Jets at New England Patriots
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Zach Wilson won’t start for the Jets in Week 12 against the Bears.
Mike White will presumably get the nod, though it wouldn’t be stunning to see Joe Flacco get the call. Robert Saleh has yet to officially name a starter, but we know it won’t be Wilson.
Wilson’s awful Week 11 performance against the Patriots — followed by his unexplainable post game comments — proved too much to overcome for the former first rounder.
Only Baker Mayfield has a worse completion rate over expected than Wilson this season. His inability to read a defense or feel a pass rush has prohibited New York’s offensive production for much of this season. The Jets, who have a legitimate shot at making the postseason, could no longer watch Wilson fail to develop in important regular season games.
Despite going 5-2 in seven starts this season, the 23-year-old’s future with the Jets is a massive question mark.
