According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN, New York Giants TE Daniel Bellinger (eye) is “trending in the right direction” to play against the Washington Commanders.

It would be the tight end’s first game since week 7 when he suffered an eye injury. He was once tied with the team lead in touchdowns as he began operating as the team’s starting tight end. Lawrence Cager, Tanner Hudson, and Chris Myarick saw extensive work since Bellinger’s absence, but head coach Brian Daboll said today that he is “optimistic” that the San Diego State rookie would return to the field. He would join an offensive side that is in dire need of a playmaker now that they lost two starting WRs for the year.

In practice today, it appears that G Shane Lemieux (toe), WR Richie James (knee), G Josh Ezeudu (neck), and CB Adoree’ Jackson (knee) were the only ones not present. It looks like CB Fabian Moreau (oblique), OT Evan Neal (knee), OLB Azeez Ojulari (calf), G Ben Bredeson (knee), and C Jon Feliciano (neck) all have a shot of returning to action next week.

At 7-4, the Giants are in a tight race for the NFC Wild Card slots, with the Commanders and Seattle Seahawks right behind New York. A loss would be devastating to their playoff hopes, so anyone off the injury list helps.
