José Quintana has come to an agreement on a two-year, $26 million contract with the New York Mets, per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

Just about 12 hours after losing Taijuan Walker to the Phillies, Steve Cohen once again prevails. Quintana quietly had a great 2022 season, compiling a 2.93 ERA and 1.21 WHIP across 165 2/3 innings (32 starts) between the Pirates and Cardinals.

On the scope, it seems like a bargain after Walker inked four-years, $72 million from the Phillies and Jameson Taillon went for four years, $68 million to the Cubs.

The Mets were in dire need of rotation depth after, and the southpaw provides them exactly that. Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer, Carlos Carrasco and David Peterson/Tylor Megill figure to round out the rest of the starting staff.

Next up for the Orange and Blue? Brandon Nimmo.
