Obi Toppin is expected to miss “several weeks” after suffering a knee injury in the Knicks 113-80 win over the Hawks on Thursday. Toppin will be re-evaluated in 2-3 weeks, according to a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
For now, the Knicks are calling the injury “a non-displaced fracture in his right fibula head”.
The NBA’s reigning Slam Dunk champion, is averaging 7.7 points and 3.8 rebounds in 17.1 minutes per game in his third NBA season. He also enjoying a career-best 35.1 percent from 3-point range.
The 24-year-old came up limping after suffering a knee-to-knee collision with Aaron Holiday. He remained in the game but the Knicks announced at halftime that he would not return.
Jericho Sims and Isaiah Hartenstein will likely see an uptick in minutes with Toppin sidelined.
