Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa remains in the concussion protocol and will not participate in next week’s Pro Bowl Games, according to Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.
The 24-year-old entered the protocol way back on December 26th after suffering his third concussion of the season in the Miami Dolphins loss the Green Bay Packers on Christmas Day.
It turns out Tagovailoa still has not been cleared a month later.
Louis-Jacques reports that according to a source, “Tagovailoa’s time in the protocol has been deliberate as he meets with multiple doctors and specialists. There have not been any setbacks as the Dolphins prioritize his long-term health.”
The first time Pro Bowler was named as an alternate to replace either Joe Burrow or Patrick Mahome with both quarterbacks playing in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game and one bound for Super Bowl LVII.

In all, the third-year signal caller missed missed the better part of six games after suffering three concussions scattered throughout the season.
The NFL altered its concussion protocol as a result of his injuries.
Dolphins General Manager Chris Grier said earlier in January that the team does not believe Tagovailoa is more prone to concussions than the average player and that the team plans to have him as the starting quarterback in 2023.
