The New York Rangers are acquiring St. Louis Forward Vladimir Tarasenko and defenseman Niko Mikkola in exchange for a conditional 2023 first-round pick, conditional 2024 fourth-round pick, Sammy Blais and prospect Hunter Skinner, the team announced.

Tarasenko, a four-time All-Star, headlines the blockbuster trade. The 31-year-old is fresh off a career high 82 points last season. He’s spent the entirety of his career with the Blues after being drafted 16th-overall in 2010.

Despite a down season (10 goals) the southpaw should provide the Blue Shirts with much needed depth. He’s reportedly a close friend with Artemi Panarin, leading fans to believe he will be play on the second line with the Breadman and Vincent Trocheck.

The 6’1 forward has 1+ year left on an 8-year contract he signed all the way back in 2015. The Blues retained 50 percent of Tarasenko’s contract in order for the Rangers to fit him under their cap.

New York currently sits at third in the Metropolitan division with 66 points. They will host the Kraken in Madison Square Garden Friday night.
