He won the battle but lost the war.
Kansas City Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes shone in the Super Bowl in spite of an injury to his ankle, but it looks like the rehab will prove too much to overcome…at least for this coming golf season. During his Super Bowl MVP Press Conference, he elaborated:
“We’ll continue to rehab, continue the treatment that we were doing, and just give it some rest. I think the best thing for it is going to be rest. Just try to make sure when we get to OTAs, I’m ready to go. One thing that might take a hit is my golf game. So I’ll take a few weeks off of that.”

Mahomes, of course, had injured his ankle earlier in the playoffs (and was reported to not be at 100% for the big game). When he initially went down just before the halftime break, many fans feared the worst. But, as we all know by now, he resumed play in the second half and lit up the Philadelphia Eagles defense en route to his second ring.
While he’ll have plenty of time to be nursed back to health, it appears that he’ll have to–at least for now–sacrifice the greens for the gridiron.
