(New York, NY) – It seems the Jets push for an upgrade at QB is underway – popular social media account Incarcerated Bob tweeted the team is preparing to make an offer to free agent Derek Carr. That followed multiple reports that said meetings over the weekend went well between Carr and New York.

“I was told that it was a very positive meeting,” Jeff Darlington said speaking on ESPN’s Get Up. “The Jets really believe that Derek Carr is the type of quarterback that can lead them to a potential championship. They also believe that the meeting went really well.”

Meanwhile, the Jets reportedly remain interested in acquiring Packers QB Aaron Rodgers – who has said he will spend time in total darkness while pondering his next move.

“Right now, we’re looking at a situation where Aaron Rodgers hasn’t even gone to the Packers to say whether he wants to be traded,” Darlington said. “We don’t know if the Packers would be willing to trade him. We obviously know that there’s a decision to be made there. So do the Jets go hard for Derek Carr now, or do they risk potentially losing him and waiting it out for Aaron Rodgers?”

It’s certainly possible that Rodgers remains with Green Bay, or prefers a team other than the Jets.

For Carr, he may be able to leverage New York’s offer while negotiating with the New Orleans Saints, or any other teams that may be interested.

Although Carr hasn’t commented much on his ugly departure from the Raiders, his brother, David, did reveal shocking details during a recent episode of “NFL Total Access.”

“He (Derek) was excited at the beginning [with] Josh McDaniels — but there was just a difference of opinion as far as how to run offensive football and how to play offensive football.  When you’re a veteran quarterback, you’ve got veteran guys, they want some control at the line of scrimmage, they want to be able to utilize their superpower.”

NFL insiders are saying the Jets like Carr and feel he’s the type of QB who could bring them a championship. Despite a somewhat up and down career with the Raiders, Carr is a four time Pro Bowler who helped his previous team make the playoffs twice.
