PGA: The Genesis Invitational – Final Round
(New York, NY) — Aftering being involved in a life threatening car crash in 2021, Tiger Wood delivered his best performance on the links in nearly two years.
The 47-year-old competed at the Genesis Invitational in Los Angeles where he finished the weekend at -1, finishing tied for 45th.
While the product wasn’t perfect, Woods still was content with his “progress.”
Following his final round, the California native said his goal is to play the four majors every year, but he doesn’t expect “to play too much more than that.”
“My body and my leg and my back just won’t allow me to play much more than that anymore,” he told CBS. “My game is fine. Yeah, it is rusty. I made some silly mistakes here and there, but overall, I feel like I hit the ball like I have been hitting it at home. I am just so thankful for all my team for getting me ready each and every night, morning, to at least give myself a chance to go out there and play. I was able to do it.”
That wasn’t the only drama Tiger endured this weekend.
The Fifteen-time major winner came under scrutiny after he handed Justin Thomas a tampon during the first round of the Invitational on Thursday. Yes, you read that right.
Woods handed the tampon to Thomas after he outdrove him. Thomas laughed at what Woods called a “prank,” but Woods noted that many haven’t taken it lightly.
“It was supposed to be all fun and games and obviously it hasn’t turned out that way,” Tiger told reporters.
Jon Rahm went on to take the Genesis Invitational crown by two stokes, finishing at 17 under par.
