Patriots QB Mac Jones turned the heads of many after having multiple games where he went after coaches publicly, according to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington.
The second-year pro was frustrated with the team for much of the season, especially with Matt Patricia being called to run the New England offense.
While many in the NFL saw Jones’ anger as a young player who is passionate, Bill Belichick seems to think otherwise.
NBC Sports Boston’s Albert Breet noted he doesn’t think Belichick appreciated Mac Jones for how he handled challenges throughout the year.
“I don’t think Bill appreciated the way that Mac handled some of the stuff last year. There’s a way that I think Bill thinks a franchise quarterback should conduct himself. And for the most part, [Tom] Brady did conduct himself that way. I think there were certain things in the way that Mac handled his second year as a pro that Bill didn’t appreciate.”
Regardless of whose side you’re taking, Jones regressed in many key categories this year including wins, yards, touchdowns, QBR, and sacks taken.
Bottom line, with Tua Tagovailoa, Josh Allen and a potential move by the Jets, both Jones and the Patriots need to come correct in order for the team to remain competitive.
