(New York, NY) – NFL free agent wide receiver Robert Woods is looking for his next gig. After being released by the Tennessee Titans, Woods took to Twitter and said “Free!” – then asked, “Where should I go?” NFL insider Jordan Schultz first reported on Woods’ release.
During what was a down season for the Titans offense overall, Woods put up a rather pedestrian statline: 49 receptions for just 487 yards. He posted 9.9 yards per catch, a career low.
Woods’ contract would have counted for $14.6 million against the cap in 2023, which doesn’t match up with his production. The veteran was traded from the Rams to the Titans in exchange for a sixth-round pick last March.
Despite a nightmare season, one could fault the Titans front office for the lack of production. Former OC Todd Downing took over two years ago and watched the team regress in every offensive category across the board. He was let go at the conclusion of the season.
The timing of Woods’ bashing is ironic. It all comes just a day removed of A.J. Brown speaking on the “Raw Room” podcast, and outlining exactly how his relationship with the Titans came to an end.
The 25-year-old revealed Tennessee offered him $16M a year ($20M with incentives) – Brown said he would’ve taken $22M to stay with the Titans.
The All-Pro WR went on to say he told the Eagles “every little detail” about the Titans call signals prior to their game this season.
“They don’t change nothing!”
The Eagles beat the Titans 35-10. Brown spent three years with the Titans prior to being traded to Philly.
