NFL: NFC Divisional Round-New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles
(New York, NY) — Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce announced he will return for a 13th season.
“I have put much thought into whether it makes sense to play another season,” Kelce tweeted Monday. “After talking it over with my wife and many other friends and family, I have decided to return for another year. “Thank you to all my supporters and detractors for fueling me, I ain’t f—ing done yet!”
Kelce, 35, started all 17 regular season games for the Super Bowl bound Eagles last season. The future Hall of Famer was named to his fifth All-Pro team and six Pro-Bowl.
“It’s getting harder every year. I’m nowhere near the player I used to be. Jalen Hurts makes all of us look a lot better and makes my job a lot easier. It’s only going to go [downhill], and whether you can be accountable to your teammates and perform at that level and mentally you have the energy to be the difference maker that I feel I am in that regard, all that stuff will factor in.”
The Ohio native is currently a free agent, but fully expected to re-sign with the Eagles when the new season starts on March 15th. His return means the Eagles will retain at least four of their five starting offensive linemen.
Kelce, drafted out of Cincinnati in 2011 has spent his entire career with the team, playing in every possible game for the team since 2015.
