(New York, NY) — It’s not the news New York Jets fan were hoping for but it’s a step in the right direction.
The Jets have announced they signed WR Allen Lazard, formerly of the Packers, to a four-year, $44 million contract. The deal includes $22 million in guaranteed money. Lazard, 27, was one of four players on the list of demands Aaron Rodgers reportedly gave the Jets.
The former undrafted rookie hits the jackpot, as he turned into one of Rodgers’ favorite teammates over his five-year tenure with Green Bay. He caught a career-high 60 passes for 788 yards last season. Lazard landing in New York likely brings Corey Davis Jets tenure to a crashing end.
“Much like everybody else, Allen Lazard is waiting to see what Aaron Rodgers is going to do,” said NFL Insider Mike Garafolo earlier today. He also noted that Lazard “has been in touch with Rodgers recently.”
In essence, it’s just a matter of time before Aaron Rodgers to the Jets is official.
