(New York, NY) — The DeAndre Hopkins sweepstakes are heating up, with one AFC contender at the forefront.
According to KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson, the Bills are leading the charge for the five-time pro bowler, with the Chiefs also interested.
Another report from former NFL cornerback Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones listed the Bills as the favorite to land Hopkins as well.
Logically it makes sense. The Bills came into the offseason knowing they needed to add more playmakers around quarterback Josh Allen, and while the teams has made some additions, it’s none of the big ones that many of the BillsMafia hoped for.
Prior to the start of free agency, NFL insider Mike Jurecki reported the Cardinals wanted a second-round draft pick plus a conditional pick or player in exchange for the star pass catcher.
As for Hopkins, he did not have the most productive 2021, tallying a career-low 572 yards. His 2022 opened with a PED suspension, which led to only 717 yards in nine games.
From 2014-2020, Hopkins racked up at least a thousand yards in all one season in that stretch. Whether or not he can be a number-one option remains to be seen due to suspensions and injuries over the past season.
The 30-year-old is owed nearly $35 million over the final two years of his contract.
