(New York, NY) — The Commanders could have a new chief, very soon.
The Josh Harris/Mitchell Rales group, which includes five-time NBA Champion Magic Johnson, have officially submitted a bid for the Commanders that is in line with current owner Dan Snyder’s six billion dollar asking price.
Six billion dollars would break the Rob Walton-led group’s current record of 4.65 billion for the purchase of an NFL franchise. The group purchased the Denver Broncos last August.

The process is more complicated than a money offer though. The NFL must approve the bidder’s name, with three-quarters of the NFL’s current owners needing to approve the sale.
Josh Harris is the founder and managing general partner of & Entertainment which owns the Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils.

The group also has ties overseas, as Harris owns a stake in English Premier League side Crystal Palace FC.
Harris comes in with a 5.8 billion dollar net worth, according to Forbes. Rales is at 5.5 billion.
The six billion dollar bid comes over two decades after Dan Snyder’s-led group bought Washington for $800 million in 1999.
