(New York, NY) — From arguably the best center in the NBA to scratching his head about why he isn’t in the league.
Four-time all-star DeMarcus Cousins is looking for answers on why he’s a free agent.
“I can never really get the raw honest truth,” Cousins said on SiriusXM’s JT & EJ show.
Cousins has been given the runaround by multiple franchises. He worked out with the Lakers in January, which didn’t lead to a contract for the rest of the season. Before that, Cousins signed with the Bucks for a year before the 2021-22 NBA season, which led to him being released in January 2022.
“I’m the type of guy that whenever I go through my hard times, my hardships, I look at myself first,” Cousin went on.” What can I do to better myself? That’s something I pride myself on.”
It has been an uphill battle for the 32-year-old who suffered a torn Achilles tendon in 2018 while with the Pelicans. He continued his career with the Warriors in 2019 putting up 16 points, eight boards, and four assists.
A solid campaign was only minimized when Cousins tore his ACL in the 2019-20 season, which marked the beginning of where he is now: a player with no place in the league.
