(New York, NY) – The Brooklyn Nets have new uniforms. The team’s 2023-24 Nike NBA City Edition Uniforms were created in partnership with KAWS, a Brooklyn-based artist. It marks the first time KAWS has worked with a pro sports team.

Drawing inspiration from KAWS’ “TENSION”, a 10-part artwork piece, the uniforms feature bold colors and abstract shapes. The artists’ signature “XX” motif can be spotted on the waistband of the uniform’s shorts.

“As a proud Brooklyn resident, I was thrilled when the Nets asked me to create a new uniform design,” said KAWS. “The history, community, and passion of this borough create an energy that inspires my studio practice, the players, and the fans. My design aims to capture the vibrancy that we experience daily when navigating Brooklyn.”

Across the chest and on the shorts, the Nets logo is spelled out in a graphic artist-style type face. KAWS’ autograph is woven into the jersey, and the Webull patch is on the top left chest – which is true of all Nets uniforms, given their ongoing sponsorship agreement.

KAWS is an artist who lives and works in Brooklyn

The Nets’ 2023-24 City Edition uniforms and merchandise collection will be available for purchase online at netsstore.com and in person at the Nets’ team store at Barclays Center, Brooklyn Fanatics, beginning this fall.
