(New York, NY) — Does it get much simpler for the Islanders? Win and you are in.

After a 5-2 blunder of a loss against the Capitals Monday, the Isles are back in the driver’s seat of their own car.

The Penguins fell to the Blackhawks 5-2, leaving the Isles with the win-and-in scenario for Wednesday’s game versus the Canadiens.

A regulation win, overtime win, or even an overtime loss would be enough to send the Islanders to the postseason.

The most likely of scenarios would see the Isles meet with record-breaking Bruins in the first round. The Florida Panthers would need a blunder of their own if the Isles were to avoid Boston.

“Hopefully we get a little help,” winger Zach Parise says. “…win our game Wednesday and see what happens.”

The Isles have everything to gain. Meanwhile, the Canadiens, are far out of the playoff race, making them a team with nothing to lose.
