(New York, NY) — Dan Snyder’s tenure owning the Washington Commanders had came to a crashing end after 30 years.

Snyder has agreed to sell the team to a group led by Josh Harris, the co-owner of the Philadelphia 76ers and the New Jersey Devils, for $6 billion, Sportico reported Thursday. The group also includes NBA legend Magic Johnson.

NFL Network is reporting that the deal isn’t officially done, and still needs to properly close, which could take at least 24 hours. Any sale of a franchise needs  to be approved by three-quarters of NFL ownership.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Tilman Fertitta, who owns the NBA’s Houston Rockets, were also reportedly interested, but backed out earlier this week.

Snyder has long refused to sell his team, just as he had long refused to change the name of the now Commanders

The $6 billion price tag would obliterate the previous $4.65 billion record set by the Broncos’ sale in 2022.

Spokesmen for the Commanders, the NFL and for Josh Harris declined to comment on the agreement.

The Commanders had one of the league’s most passionate fanbases until Snyder did everything he could to destroy it. Under Snyder, the Commanders were involved in a series of scandals, including 15 former female employees accusing a Commander’s executives and employees of sexual harassment. From that point on, it felt inevitable that Snyder’s time in the NFL was coming to a screeching halt.

It did.
