(New York, NY) — You didn’t need to have a crystal ball to see this one coming.
19-year-old Victor Wembanyama–one of the most exciting draft prospects in any sport ever–has declared for the NBA Draft. Known more commonly as “Wemby,” he is definitely going to be the #1 pick regardless of the team that wins the lottery. He’s currently a French professional basketball player for Metropolitans 92 of the LNB Pro A.
“Declaring for the draft was just me sending a letter to the NBA, but it’s something crazy I’m not realizing yet,” Wembanyama said. “I realized pretty young I wanted to play in the NBA, but it becomes reality more and more every day, and I just feel so lucky to have these dreams at the reach of my hand. I’m gonna take every opportunity I can.”
Wembanyama, is 7-foot-4, can finish with ease in the paint, mid-range, and deep-range. He has exceptional ball-handling skills for his size, can run the break, and is a stout defender on the ball and at the rim.
The 2023 NBA Draft Lottery is set for Tuesday, May 16. The Rockets, Spurs, and Pistons all have the best odds to win the top selection.
