(New York, NY) – – When it rains, it pours. At least if you’re a Oakland Athletics fan.
Top pitching prospect Mason Miller is dealing with right elbow tightness.
The 24-year-old is headed back to the Bay Area for evaluation after feeling tightness following Sunday’s start in Kansas City. “We’re hoping for the best,” Athletics manager Mark Kotsay told reporters on Monday.
The hope is that he’s merely dealing with a flexor muscle issue than a potential UCL injury. The flame throwing prospect has turned in a pair of impressive starts for Oakland since being called up back in late April.
The Athletics’ no. 3 prospect per MLB Pipeline, began the season in Double-A — but after striking out 19 over his first 8.2 innings in the Minors, he’d earned himself a call to the Show. There should be an official update on his status sometime later this week.
The A’s begin a three-game series in New York tonight against the Yankees
