(New York, NY) — Death, taxes and another Braves pitcher injured.

The Braves placed LHP Max Fried on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 6, with a left forearm strain. RHP Danny Young was recalled to take Fried’s spot on the active roster.

This comes after Fried allowed seven runs — five earned — over six-plus innings last Friday against the Orioles. Entering that contest, the southpaw yielded just one run all season.

Braves manager Brian Snitker indicated Sunday that Fried was potentially not going to make his next start, and just days later we have more clarity.

“We’re just going through some things right now,” Snitker said.

The severity of the issue isn’t yet known, but obviously it’s another tough blow for a Braves’ rotation which is also without Kyle Wright for a while.

It’s the second IL trip of the young season for the 29-year-old, who exited his Opening Day start due to a hamstring strain. He will be eligible to return May 21.

Jared Shuster has been mentioned as a replacement for Fried on Wednesday versus the Red Sox.
