(New York, NY) —  The San Francisco 49ers have a good problem at quarterback; especially when rookie sensation Brock Purdy is healthy.

Asked about the uncertainty of his quarterback room, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said: “We did expect Trey Lance (to be the man for a long time) and I think that he still can be. You also don’t expect the last pick in the draft to come in and play at that level … I truly think Trey can go in and do that, but Brock’s already done it and that’s a very good thing for us to have.”

So what is there to make of these words?

It seems that Purdy, health being the deciding factor, could remain the likely starter for the 49ers following his impressive postseason. Meanwhile, Trey Lance likely will only get a chance to prove himself if Purdy is not ready.

And in terms of that health, Shanahan is an optimist. “As long as Brock’s elbow heals right, he’ll be the exact same guy,” Shanahan said, via 49ersWebZone.com. “And when you have a clean break like that or tear, it will be. You can have a setback, and you can have something heal wrong, but everything’s been completely on pace.”

“I will say we were always very confident of Brock. We loved him coming out of college. From his first practice to his last before he played, we felt real good about him.”

It’ll probably still be the Brock Show in San Fran.
