(New York, NY) — With the NFL Draft in the rearview mirror, the Raiders set their sights on the free agency pool.
The Athletic’s Vic Tafur reports free agent DB Marcus Peters is visiting with Las Vegas.
Monday’s visit with the Raiders marks the first known visit between Peters and another team this offseason. The 30-year-old cornerback spent the last four seasons with the Ravens.
Coach John Harbaugh told reporters earlier this month that bringing Peters back to Baltimore wasn’t out of the question.
“I don’t think you ever really close the door on any personnel move. Whoever it might be,” Harbaugh said. “You’d probably ask me about Marcus and whatever other corners are out there. You don’t close the door on good players and good people, you just see how it goes.”
The two-time All-Pro had one interception and 47 tackles in 13 games with the Ravens last year. He missed the entire 2021 season after suffering a torn ACL.
The secondary figures to be an area of focus for the Raiders after they finished 29th in passing yards allowed (242.9 per game) and last in opponent passer rating (98.8).
One of the true ballhawks of the league, Peters has 32 career interceptions but just one last season while earning a PFF coverage grade of 69.5.
Peters should provide plenty of help to a Raiders secondary that projects to be among the worst in the league.
