(New York, NY) – Once a hot shot, “can’t miss” prospect with the New York Yankees, Clint Frazier is back in the big leagues.
His 2021 trade away from The Bronx in 2021 led to an odyssey that carried him to the minors, the Dominican League, and through several MLB stints.
After spending time with the Texas Rangers and Chicago Cubs, Frazier has reemerged in the show as a member of the Chicago White Sox.
According to The Athletic, Frazier changed his swing while with Triple-A Charlotte. He abandoned his extremely closed stance that would look familiar to Yankees fans, opting for a more traditional set up. It led to positive results in the minors – a .375 batting average with seven homers across 16 games – and a call up by the Sox.
Cameron Seitzer, a minor league hitting coach with Chicago, says Frazier needs to stay aggressive and look to drive the ball the other way to right-center. For his part, Frazier gave credit to his past stint in Texas, and some of the coaching he’s received to date.
He told the Chicago Sun Times (as reported by the New York Post) “I definitely realized I don’t know as much about baseball as I thought that I did, which is why [ Rangers hitting coach ] Tim Hyers was such a great asset for me. The pillars of hitting, the important things in my swing to focus on … he got me in a good place, and that place led to me being here in Chicago.”
Frazier, who was selected by Cleveland in the first round of the 2013 amateur draft made his big league debut in 2017 with the Yankees. He is a .238 hitter with 29 home runs and 98 RBIs in 247 career games.
He appeared in 19 games with the Cubs in 2022.
