(New York, NY) — The Braves-Mets clash on Tuesday night had added fuel to that rivalry’s fire. And Pete Alonso’s words have ignited the flames.

Alonso and teammate Francisco Lindor both launched two-run home runs in the third inning to give the Mets an early 4-1 advantage. Alonso took a moment in the dugout to chirp at Braves’ starter Bryce Elder, the National League ERA leader.

“Throw it again, throw it again, please. Throw it again,” Alonso taunted.

Cue a Mets’ meltdown. Elder held the team scoreless for the rest of the game and the Braves surged to get the win.

Elder told reporters that he did not hear Alonso yelling at him and later said he was not insulted.

“I mean, if I hit one on the concourse, I might holler, too,” Elder said

The Braves’ Twitter account quickly pounced on the Mets and Alonso following the team’s win.

“Throw it again,” the post read alongside a graphic celebrating the Braves’ 6-4 win.

Ouch.
