New York Mets designated hitter Tommy Pham (28) watches from the dugout before the first inning of the MLB National League game between the Cincinnati Reds and the New York Mets at Great American Ball Park in downtown Cincinnati on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.

(New York, NY) — Are the New York Mets about to wave the white flag?

Seems that way.

Speaking with Bill Ladson of MLB.com Tommy Pham acknowledged that the possibility of a trade “has crossed my mind.”

“Getting traded is a possibility, Pham pointed out, who has been traded at the deadline twice before. “It’s tough, because at the beginning of the year, I never would have thought I would be talking about [the Trade Deadline]. I never would have got such a nice condo that I got out here, especially with how high rent is. It’s something that has crossed my mind.”

With the Mets 18 games out of first place in the NL East and nine games out of the final Wild Card spot, all signs  point to Pham breaking his rent earlier than expected.

The 35-year-old has been one of the lone bright spots for a Mets team that entered the season with World Series aspirations. Pham’s slashed an impressive 273/.344/.488 batting line to go along with eight homers and nine steals over 60 games.

“There is so much more going on right now,” Pham said when asked about his future with the team.

He’s on a one-year, $6 million deal and makes for a cheap, logical addition for any contender.

“The fans can be tough, but that’s only because they want the team to win, and I love to win,” Pham said. “The Mets are a great group of guys. But the business side of the game sucks.”
