(Yokohama, Japan) — Trevor Bauer can throw some mean pitches. But as the title suggests, he can also throw temper tantrums.
The Yokohama DeNA BayStars pitcher induced a bases-loaded comeback to end the sixth inning of the team’s Nippon League game against the Chunichi Dragons in Japan on Saturday.
But rather than just throw the ball for the final out, the disgraced former Cy Young winner sprinted to first-base on his own to secure it. Earlier in the inning, his teammates had cost him an out.
As he neared the dugout, Bauer could be seen screaming “Wake up!” along with other inaudible yells toward his teammates over their lackadaisical defense.
Bauer then angrily marched down the tunnel followed by teammate Daisuke Miura, who waved for reinforcements as their star pitcher disappeared from the cameras.
Saturday’s incident of rage comes just two weeks after Bauer claimed on Twitter that “the America media still wants you to believe my teammates hate me and think my sword celebration is racist….”
Bauer now owns a 3.77 ERA in his first Japanese professional league season.
