(Philadelphia, PA) — Don’t ask Deebo Samuel about the Philadelphia Eagles.
The 49ers wide receiver appeared on the Zach Gelb Show on CBS Sports Radio, but when asked about previous statements made about the Eagles, Samuel hung up the phone.
Gelb: “I saw what you said about the Eagles back at the Super Bowl at Sirius [Radio] where if Brock Purdy didn’t get hurt you guys would’ve won by digital digits. Why would that have been the case?
Samuel: “I don’t know that though.”
Gelb: “So do you not still believe that?”
Samuel: “I mean, I do, but we not going to keep talking about it. I said what I said.”
Gelb: “Gotcha, so then what happens when you play Philly this year on December 3rd?”
Samuel: “I don’t know. Just wait until Week 13, 12, or whatever week it is.”
Gelb: “Well, you know how that’s going to go. You’re going into Philadelphia. Those fans are going to be booing you loud. Do you have a message for Eagles fans?”
Conversation over.
Gelb was apparently promised 15 minutes with Samuel – but the discussion lasted only five. He then accused Samuel of having no interest in doing the interview and only appearing on the show to promote his own endeavors.
“We got hung up on because all we did was ask him about the quarterback situation, and then Philadelphia, and we got hung up on by Deebo Samuel? That’s a joke, an absolute joke. That’s absurd,” Gelb said.
Obviously Samuel is still upset from January’s 31-7 loss that sent the 49ers packing and the Eagles to the Super Bowl.
Since the 49ers wide receiver can’t hang up on someone in front of the podium, he might want to re-think his answer, for when he’s inevitably asked again.
The 49ers and Eagles will meet on Dec. 3 in Philly during Week 13 of the 2023-24 season.
