NFL: New York Jets at New England Patriots
(San Francisco, CA) – Is Sam Darnold living the life of an NFL quarterback, or is he starring in an episode of Scooby Doo? Sometimes it’s hard to tell.
After infamously saying he was “seeing ghosts” during a game against the New England Patriots, in which he struggled as a member of the New York Jets, it seems Darnold is once again experiencing visions.
After a stint with the Carolina Panthers last year, Darnold is now with the San Francisco 49ers.
He’s undoubtedly hoping to become a starter yet again, and he spent time with star tight end George Kittle during the team’s Offseason Training Activities, or OTAs. Darnold was invited to stay as a guest in Kittle’s pool house. But that’s where things crossed over once again into the supernatural.
Darnold joined Barstool’s “Pardon My Take” podcast and said, “I woke up, and you know how sometimes you have a dream and then you wake up and you feel like you can’t move for like maybe four or five seconds, whatever it is? I felt that, and I woke up, it was like 3 a.m., went to go take a pee and, you know, came back, fell right asleep. And then, that next night, the same thing happened, and I couldn’t, like, I had to keep focusing on this thing … there was something else in the room.”
It was back in 2019 during a Monday Night Football game when Darnold was mic’d up on the sideline when he first “saw ghosts.” As the Jets fell 33-0, Darnold completed just 11 of 32 passes for 86 and was picked off four times.
That’s certainly scary, but a real life ghost would turn the fright level up a few notches.
If this is a Scooby Doo episode, it’s about time for Bill Belichick to have his mask pulled off, so he can scream, “Curses! Foiled again! And I would have pulled it off if not for you meddling kids!”
