(Los Angeles, LA) — Trade Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout…said former Yankees third baseman turned analyst Alex Rodriguez.

With Ohtani set to be a free agent after the season, Rodriguez laid out a five-year, full-proof plan for the Angels to win the World Series.

“First, you trade Ohtani, then you trade Trout. And you try to get five or six players,” Rodriguez said on Fox’s coverage of the MLB All-Star Game.

“…load up with first-rounders and the next thing that you have to do is bring in a guy like Theo Epstein, give him ownership and let him run the shop.”

“And that move has to come first and then follow up. I don’t think you have the time, but that would be the move.”

Ohtani wants to win but if the Angels once again fail to make the postseason, that leaves little incentive for their superstar to stay. Especially if he could make better money in a better situation.

The dual threat is batting .302/.387/.663 with a league-leading 32 home runs. He also has a 7-4 record with a 3.32 ERA.

“So the first move is to trade Ohtani and then Trout. And then you sell the team and then you move out of Anaheim in that order,” Derek Jeter joked after Rodriguez made his recommendation.

He’s not wrong.
