(New York, NY) — New York Jets running back Breece Hall is on a mission.

Speaking with NFL Network, Hall (ACL) said, “I’ll be ready for the first game.”

“I’m doing pretty good right now. I’m just focused on getting my knee as strong as possible, just getting that confidence back, but it’s been going well so far.”

The reports surrounding the rehabbing New York running back have been encouraging throughout most of the offseason. As he recovers from a torn ACL and resulting surgery, head coach Robert Saleh also has said he’s “very optimistic” Hall will be ready to go by Week 1.

That doesn’t mean Hall would immediately take on a workhorse role in New York’s offense. It’s likely he’ll be phased back into the running back rotation, as the team looks to protect his health and recovery.

During seven games played during his rookie season, Hall flashed his high-end potential, rushing for 463 yards on 80 carries – good enough for a very impressive 5.8 yards per carry. Before suffering a torn ACL in Week 7, he appeared to be well on his way to claiming the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

Gang Green could also be interested in signing Dalvin Cook if Hall isn’t going to be 100 percent this season. A gradual and eased return would follow the path taken by the Baltimore Ravens last year with J.K. Dobbins.

The Jets currently own the seventh-best odds to win the Super Bowl, per Caesars Sportsbook — begin the season at home when they host the Buffalo Bills on “Monday Night Football.”
