MLB: Chicago White Sox at New York Mets
(New York, NY) — The New York Mets can’t catch a break.
Left fielder Tommy Pham exited Thursday’s game against the Chicago White Sox with an apparent injury, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
Pham may have tweaked something as he grounded into an inning-ending double play in the bottom of the third inning.
Jeff McNeil shifted to the outfield, with Luis Guillorme entering the game at second base. Pham missed time before the All-Star break with tightness in his right groin but was back in the lineup at DH immediately after the break.
The outfielders exit is bad news for the Mets, who just lost Starling Marte (migraines) to the 10-day injured list prior to Thursday’s series finale against Chicago.
Pham has been one of the Mets’ most productive bats this season, his first in Queens. Entering Thursday’s action he was batting .274 with an .838 OPS across 73 games.
