(New York) — All good things must come to an end.
The Yankees transferred Josh Donaldson (calf-strain) to the 60-day injured list on Thursday.  The third basemen last appeared in a game on July 15th in Colorado against the Rockies.
According to NJ.com’s Randy Miller, a Yankees doctor called it a Grade 2-plus strain, while an independent physician called it a Grade-3 strain – meaning Donaldson won’t be ready for game action for at least 2-3 months

Donaldson’s tenure with the Yankees is seemingly over following 165 games over two seasons in which the posted a disappointing .207 BA with 25 homers and 77 RBI across 666 plate appearances.

He’ll be a free agent at the end of the year assuming the Bombers decline his 2024 team option.

This move frees up a 40-man roster spot for reliever Matt Bowman, who was re-signed Thursday to a major-league contract.
New York originally acquired Donaldson in 2021 with Isiah Kiner-Falefa, and Ben Rortvedt in a trade with the Twins in exchange for Gary Sánchez and Gio Urshela.
