(New York) — He’s back.
Barring a setback, the Yankees plan to activate Aaron Judge on Friday in Baltimore, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.
Judge had actually wanted to try to play in the Subway Series, but the team wanted to be more cautious.
The captain played five innings of a simulated game on Tuesday in Tampa at the Yankees’ complex, getting at-bats, playing the outfield and running the bases.
Erik Boland of Newsday claims Judge did not appear to be favoring his injured toe.
Apparently that’s enough for the Bombers to activate their slugger.
It’s, ‘Get through today and tomorrow’; hopefully we can ramp up and it’s a couple [innings] more. I don’t think he had any action in the field today. We’ll try and set up situations to make sure there’s action in play, or script some things a little bit more so that not only is he getting the volume of being out there for an hour or two hours, getting the live at-bats, but trying to replicate things that would come up in the game as much as we can.”
Judge has been since June 3 when he torn ligaments in his right big toe by crashing through the fence at Dodger Stadium.
The Yankees have gone 18-23 without him.
