MLB: St. Louis Cardinals at Arizona Diamondbacks
(St. Louis) — Andrew Suarez has made Cardinals’ history.
Yes, you read that right.
The 30-year-old southpaw became the first St. Louis relief pitcher in team history to throw 45 or more pitches on consecutive days.

His reward? Getting sent down to Triple-A Memphis in exchange for Matthew Liberatore.
It’s pretty fitting that a reliever who’s failed to pitch in the big leagues since 2020 made history for the tanking 46-58 Cardinals.
The left-hander produced a 4.08 ERA and 1.48 WHIP with 69 strikeouts over 64 innings in 28 appearances, with Memphis this season.

Suarez spent the past two seasons pitching in the Korea Baseball Organization (2021) and Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball (2022).
Expect him to get another opportunity with the big-league club before the summer is through.
