CAROLINA — There’s nothing like a comeback story.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports RB Tarik Cohen is re-entering the NFL, and planning to sign to the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad.
Cohen was plagued with injuries the past three seasons, last playing a game in 2020 before dealing with a series of serious knee issues.
Prior to that, he was one of the league’s top receiving backs, totaling 1,534 receiving yards from 2017-2019.
Though he does not have a spot on the active roster as of yet, this still marks an accomplishment for the 28-year-old – Cohen will be on Carolina’s practice squad to start his story.
The elusive running back was drafted by the Chicago Bears as a fourth-round pick in 2017. Despite his 5-foot-6 height, he earned a Pro Bowl nod in just his second season.
“I want to be the player that I was before I got hurt,” he said on a Rally House Q&A in February of 2022. “I won’t let myself come back before I’m ready and before I feel like I can put the same performances on that I was putting on before I got hurt.”
Cohen will now get his chance.
