NFL: Kansas City Chiefs at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
(New York, NY) – New York Jets fans can cross Tom Brady off the list of available potential fill-ins for the injured Aaron Rodgers.
Despite previously coming out of retirement to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the NFL legend seems content being done with his playing days.
This week, during his SiriusXM NFL podcast, Brady told co-host Jim Gray he wasn’t pining for a chance to suit up once more.
“Have the Jets called?” asked Gray. “Oh, no, no, no, no, next question,” came Brady’s response.
He went on to say how much he’s enjoying watching football as a fan – as opposed to a player. For more than two decades, Brady explains he watched games and obsessed over the result. Specifically, every game mattered to him in terms of potential playoff positioning and other in-season factors. Now, that’s no longer a concern.
Brady says he still watches and roots for certain teams, as well as specific players. He singled out former Bucs’ teammate Mike Evans, expressing his happiness at how productive the veteran WR has been alongside new QB Baker Mayfield.
So, while a guy like Matt Ryan reportedly hasn’t ruled out a return to the field, Brady isn’t walking through that door for Gang Green.
