NEW YORK — Hal Steinbrenner says changes are coming.

The Yankees held an organizational meeting last week to decipher what went wrong in their worst season since 1992 and Steinbrenner indicated the team is prepared to do things differently before the start of next season.

“We’re going to make some changes. Some may be more subtle than others,” Steinbrenner said Wednesday at Sportico’s Invest in Sports conference. “Possibly personnel but not necessarily personnel. It could be practices. It could be the way we communicate.”

Asked by The Associated Press afterward what changes could be made, Steinbrenner said: “Anything’s possible. There’s a lot more discussions to be had.”

Gee, thanks.

Steinbrenner also noted a group of 15 Yankees officials recently met in Tampa, Florida.

“At times it got a little dicey, but it was respectful,” Steinbrenner said. “I want you to challenge everything, all of our philosophies,” Steinbrenner said. “I want you to challenge each other.”

General manager Brian Cashman and manager Aaron Boone were present.

While change is inevitable heading into 2023, recent history tell us to temper expectations.
