NEW YORK — Francisco Lindor is using the this years MLB postseason to get healthy.
The Mets shortstop underwent surgery Tuesday to remove a bone spur from his throwing elbow, the team announced Wednesday.
Lindor should only need a couple of months to recover, so he’ll be ready to go this spring.
The bone spur might have been painful, but it couldn’t have been very limiting to Lindor, who played 160 games this season while batting .254 with 31 home runs, a .806 OPS and provided elite defense.
Lindor, who will turn 30 next month, also swiped 31 bags, making him the fourth Met in franchise history to reach the 30-30 club.
While the Mets were a major disappointment overall, Lindor looks likely to finish in the top 10 in MVP balloting for the fifth time in his career.
Dr. David Altchek, the Mets’ medical director, performed the surgery in New York.
The decorated shortstop will be entering the third season of his 10-year, $341 million contract. He’ll once again be a key contributor for the Mets as they look for a rebound after an embarrassing showing in 2024 under a new front office and manager.
