NFL: Washington Commanders at New York Giants
(East Rutherford, NJ) – OK, Giants fans. We’ve got some potentially good news, and some potentially not so great news. Odds makers have installed New York as two-touchdown underdogs, as they travel to hostile Orchard Park for a showdown with the Buffalo Bills.
On the bad news side, starting QB Daniel Jones is still dealing with a neck injury, and after failing to get on the practice field Wednesday of Thursday – he’s a long shot to play. So, backup Tyrod Taylor is likely to start against his old club. Taylor took the Bills to the playoffs in 2017.
But on the more positive side, running back Saquon Barkley may be getting closer to a return. He suffered an ankle sprain during New York’s lone win – a comeback victory on the road against the Arizona Cardinals during week 2. Barkley was listed as a limited participant in practice Thursday. Speaking to reporters, the captain and playmaking running back said, “I feel like I’m trending every week… but when you have injuries, sometimes it takes time, and like I said, been listening to the trainers and come in here and do everything I can and take it day by day. Each week has been trending upwards and I feel way better this Wednesday and Thursday than I did in the past.”
Chances are, even if the Giants had both Jones and Barkley – going up against the Bills stout defense will be a rough day at the office. But Giants fans can at least dream on seeing #26 back in action for Big Blue.
