Report: Giants Players Not Happy Amid Leonard Williams Trade

NEW YORK — Brian Daboll is losing the Giants locker room.

That’s according to Mark Cannizzaro of the New York Post.

The Giants fell to 2-6 and after Sunday’s gut-wrenching 13-10 overtime loss to the Jets the team made the decision to waive the white flag.

On Wednesday, the Giants players’ returned to the locker for the first time since the Leonard Williams trade, and the was uneasy. 

“I hate it,’’ safety Xavier McKinney said. “He was a leader and a captain for our team. I thought that our mindset as a team was to win right now, not future stuff, but I guess that’s not what they saw.”

“We’re the ones that have to go out there and sacrifice our bodies. So, what we don’t want to do is go out there and BS it. We don’t want to sacrifice everything and not gain anything.”

Defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, one of Williams’ closest friends, admitted that seeing his buddy traded was shocking.

“I just don’t think like that. I didn’t see why [and] I still don’t understand why. But it is what it is.’’

Asked if the trade sends a message, Williams said, “If it does, it’s not spoken on.’’

Whether or not the Giants front office wants to admits, they’ve  made it clear they are punting on the 2023 season.
